Please join the Friends of the MCEAS

The Friends of the MCEAS provide an operating fund that may be drawn upon by the director for such discretionary purposes as awarding short-term travel grants to visiting graduate students, covering unanticipated expenses for MCEAS-sponsored conferences, or helping to meet other costs not provided for in the Center's barebones budget. During the 2000-2001 and 2004-2005 academic year, the Friends fund made possible the awarding of a second postdoctoral fellowship. In recent years, contributions have also supported a "Friends of the MCEAS Dissertation Fellowship" devoted to scholars working on the Mid-Atlantic topics traditionally emphasized by the original Philadelphia Center for Early American Studies.

Graduate students can express their support for as little as $20. Contributing memberships begin at $50. Both categories of membership include a subscription to Early American Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Those who contribute $100 and upwards receive a 40% discount on any of the McNeil Center's recent Early American Studies titles. Those who contribute $150 or more will also receive a free copy of any Early American Studies title as a token of appreciation.  Members might also consider making contributions to the Richard S. Dunn Appreciation Book Fund, established by Center alumni to expand the MCEAS library.
